Slowing down the draining with the flat bottom, the Kalita Wave ensures that the coffee doesn’t drain too quickly and instead produces a balanced, even extraction. The specially-designed wave filter forces the coffee grounds and water to interact throughout the brew, encouraging further a balanced brew.

Basic Kalita Wave Instructions:

• Grind 30g of coffee at a medium setting and place into the filter
• Pour 60ml of hot water over the grounds, then rest for 30 seconds.
• Pour the remaining 510ml of water in slow, concentric circles.
• When draining is complete, pour and enjoy.

The end result is 1-4 cups of a delicious brew that’s balanced and pleasant in every way.
